I began frame running over 2 years ago to regain strength and improve my physical and mental health after becoming weak and immobile during the COVID lockdown.

I have CP and discovered it at a new local therapy centre, I loved it. All my life I’ve been slow on my feet and cautious of falling over but not with a frame runner!

When the indoor space became unavailable, I collaborated with Gabriela to create FRGG and we found a new indoor location at the Friendship Cafe in Gloucester. I’m eager to promote frame running by designing websites, creating flyers, and demonstrating the activity, as I wish I had known about it years ago.

Last year I also started adaptive cycling with Goals beyond Grass and by the end of 2024 reached my goal of 10km in one sitting.

I’m not young anymore and have learned from my own experience how extra important it is to keep strong and fit when we have a disability, so we can continue to manage it.., and have fun too of course!

I have has been working as a physiotherapist with early intervention since the 1980s  and have always been interested in how we as a society can become more accessible as a community. Frame Running inspired me by its very history-  2 paralympians who sought a better alternative to backwards pedalling a wheelchair –  wow! Now that it has become a Paralympic sport it sits well and truly under Athletics, but this doesn’t mean that it is any less accessible to somebody who may just want to take their first steps with a running frame. Frame running is leisure, sport and therapy – all in one- whether for 5 steps or for a marathon!

Track and admin support

Hi,  I’m Eleanor and I have been Frame Running competitively since 2017. Having recently gained my Coaches Assistant Licence, I hope to help coach other Frame Running athletes.

I have always been interested in sport and how best to have fun and control my health to live a good fulfilling life. I actually found out about Frame Running from a gym manager who was working for Gympansee’s, a new children’s gym in Bristol. He showed me a picture of a Frame Runner. I thought ‘I could have a go at that’ and promptly went home and searched for a club on the internet. I came up with the result of the Gloucester Athletics Track Para Athletic group. This was back in 2017 and I have not looked back since.. I feel honoured to be part of the growing Frame Running community. Whilst still competing, I also help this fantastic organisation with some administration tasks to enable more people to experience the joy.

As the sport is relatively new, more awareness and more athletes are required  to enable coaches and assistant coaches to continue supporting this sport. I have always been very supportive of the sport and its health  benefits and want  to ‘spread the joy’ of this fast emerging sport.
